LAGUNA NIGUEL -- A woman jogging today in Laguna Niguel tried to
shoo a stray dog off the road and was fatally struck when two drivers swerved
to avoid hitting the pooch.
Mara Steves, 48, of Laguna Niguel, was struck at 11:10 a.m. at Moulton
Parkway and Crown Valley Parkway, according to the coroner and Orange County
Sheriff's Lt. Ted Boyne.
She died at the scene. The dog did not belong to her, Boyne said.
Boyne said two northbound vehicles collided while trying to avoid the
stray dog, and
